Book NowHave you ever wondered why we start to look older? As we age, we begin to lose our youthful appearance because our bodies aren’t producing as much collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. This diminished production causes our skin to become dry. Facial volume and fullness also begin to decrease as the fat pads in our face start to shrink and shift. This leads to hollowing around the forehead, eyes, brows, and temples. The decreased facial fat, paired with the downward movement, gives rise to those infamous under eye shadows. Bone loss also contributes to the hollowing and deepening of the nasolabial fold, which causes the jowls to descend and the jawline to begin sagging. These subtle facial changes may begin as early as your twenties…much sooner than any of us would expect. It’s becoming more common to begin preventative treatments at that time, as opposed to waiting until the lines and wrinkles are deeper and will require consistent treatments before seeing the same type of results. The good news is that although all of these facial changes will occur with age, there are options!
Dermal fillers and Botox are non-surgical options that will often correct the signs of aging we discussed above. Hallelujah! These treatments are gaining popularity due to the near-immediate results, minimal downtime, and limited side effects compared to more invasive surgical approaches. Dermal fillers were actually designed to combat the most common signs of aging. Collagen used to be a common filler, but these days, most fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane, use hyaluronic acid. Once injected, it can boost or replenish your body’s natural production of hyaluronic acid. They are injected into soft tissue and will replenish that lost volume by plumping up those cheeks and lips, decreasing the shadows and wrinkles under your eyes, and softening facial scars and wrinkles in the lower face. Botox packs its own punch by working on the wrinkles caused by muscle movement. Have you ever thought about how often you move your facial features every day? No wonder they need help! Botox is designed to relax those overworked muscles, which in turn reduces (and eventually eliminates) visible lines such as forehead wrinkles, crows feet, and frown lines.
As incredible as fillers and Botox are in the fight against aging, you HAVE to protect your investment…aka your skin. If you’re coming to see me inquiring about fillers, peels, lasers, etc., you better believe I’m going to ask about your daily skincare regimen + when your last skin check was. NO, this is not me trying to take you to the cleaner + see just how much cash I can squeeze out of you in one visit. It’s actually me being a responsible provider + decent human being. Listen close y’all: if you are having cosmetic procedures done, + skipping the skincare regimen + yearly skin checks, you are NOT PROTECTING YOUR INVESTMENT. It doesn’t matter how amazing your filler looks if your skin is a wreck. The skin cancer growing on your lip doesn’t care how amazing your new pout looks. Yes, you can technically get a peel or laser without being on a regimen, but you shouldn’t. The better shape your skin goes into a procedure, the better it’s going to do coming out.
Your skin will thank you later, I PROMISE.
Aesthetic injectables make some clients nervous because they think it will change their face. Not true! Aging is the real culprit behind those unwanted changes. In fact, when placed correctly by an experienced injector, Botox and dermal fillers will help maintain your natural, youthful appearance and reduce the visible signs of aging. Are the effects of dermal fillers, Botox, and using a medical grade skincare regimen purely physical? Nope! My favorite part about being an Aesthetic Nurse Injector is the self-confidence I can help my clients uncover. Oftentimes, making small changes on the outside leads to big changes on the inside. I use advanced skills and a syringe to shape and contour your face, and to restore that natural fullness that used to be there. YOU will use the reflection you see in the mirror as a catapult to feeling more confident and comfortable in your own skin. Injecting is an art…beauty is a spirit!
