Is IPL a Good Choice for Me?

IPL, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light, is an innovative cosmetic treatment that rejuvenates your skin’s natural glow without harming its surface. When used on your face, IPL technology can significantly reduce red and brown pigmentation issues, enhancing your appearance and reversing some effects of weather damage. You’ll experience numerous benefits, including the ability to target the following concerns:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Blush of rosacea
  • Age spots
  • Sun-induced freckles
  • Benign brown pigment
  • Persistent red pigmentation
  • Red spots
  • Large blood vessels
  • Acne scars
  • Large pores

How Does IPL Photofacial Work?

The IPL photofacial treatment functions by directing a focused beam of light into the treatment area, targeting issues such as brown spots, hyperpigmentation, and enlarged blood vessels. By employing a range of light wavelengths, IPL photofacials can be customized to meet your specific cosmetic objectives, addressing facial blemishes without causing damage or scarring. Additionally, IPL treatments stimulate your body’s natural collagen production, which helps tighten and tone the surrounding tissues.

By gently penetrating the upper layers of your skin, the IPL photofacial treatment effectively eliminates underlying hyperpigmentation and visible blood vessels that affect your skin's appearance. Unlike other treatments, such as chemical peels, which remove the outer layer of skin and necessitate lengthy healing times, IPL does not damage the outer skin, resulting in a significantly shorter recovery period. During your initial consultation, we’ll be happy to address any questions you may have about the procedure and its benefits.

Your Experience with IPL Photofacial Treatment

Based on the details of your treatment plan, your IPL session will typically take between 15 and 20 minutes to complete. A series of sessions is necessary for a full-face treatment, and we’ll collaborate with you to create a treatment schedule that fits well with your current commitments.

Once your treatment area is ready, your provider will glide the laser over your skin in a grid-like pattern, flashing the light approximately every centimeter. Depending on your individual needs, your provider may need to cover your treatment area several times.

Following Your IPL Treatment Session

After your IPL treatment, your provider will cleanse your skin, and you may experience mild to moderate redness. You can apply makeup immediately if you wish.

However, we advise avoiding direct sunlight for at least a week post-session and regularly applying sunscreen.

The mild to moderate redness can last up to three days, and you may notice that the pigment in your treatment area darkens over the next 48 hours.

This outer layer of skin will naturally exfoliate after a week, allowing you to enjoy the exciting results of your IPL photofacial.

Most clients see immediate results, which will continue to improve over the next two weeks. While these results are temporary, they can last for months or even years once you achieve your desired complexion. For optimal results, we recommend undergoing at least two to three treatments spaced one month apart.
