Unveil a More Radiant You with Dermaplaning

As the largest portion of your body, your skin is vulnerable to a number of factors that can impact its health. Genetics, stress, the environment, and your personal routine can all have an impact on the appearance and health of your skin, and many clients find that they need something a bit more than simple cleansing and moisturizing to effectively turn back the clock and reverse some of these negative influences. This is where dermaplaning steps in to help. Dermaplaning is an excellent option for any clients interested in showing the world a more youthful, luminous glow, as well as anyone who might be looking for an effective way to get rid of pesky peach fuzz (vellus hair) on their faces. How Does Dermaplaning Work?

Dermaplaning is a quick, safe, and non-invasive skin procedure that creates exciting results by gently exfoliating the thin, topmost outer layer of your skin, commonly referred to as the epidermal cells.

Using a specialized surgical blade, your provider will gently scrape away the topmost layer of the skin in the treatment area. This helps your provider address a number of life’s most common cosmetic challenges, including the following:

  • Dry skin
  • Vellus hair (peach fuzz)
  • Dull skin tone
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Redness and inflammation

The Day of Your Dermaplaning Procedure

When you arrive for your appointment, the targeted area will be cleaned thoroughly. Using a small surgical scalpel, your provider will gently scrape away all of the dead skin cells and vellus hairs (peach fuzz) in your treatment area. In as little as 15 to 30 minutes, you’ll have smoother, healthier, and more radiant skin.  After your treatment is finished, all of the excess skin will be wiped away.

After Your Dermaplaning Session

Dermaplaning is considered a “lunch hour procedure,” as it can be completed in as little as 15 to 30 minutes. We recommend avoiding direct exposure for a few days immediately following your treatment, but you can otherwise rejoin your normal routine with little to no downtime The most common side effects include slight redness or dryness immediately surrounding the treatment areas.

Following your dermaplaning session, you’ll experience immediate results, including improved brightness, enhanced skin tone, and more youthful and radiant skin. Your hair will grow back at the same rate and texture as before your treatment, and you’ll enjoy results that can last between up to three or four weeks at a time. What are the benefits of Dermaplane treatments?

In addition to more radiant and healthy-looking skin, regularly scheduled dermaplaning treatments can help you enjoy the following benefits:

  • Improved hydration
  • Reduced dullness
  • The temporary removal of pesky peach fuzz
  • Improved results from personal skin care products
  • More even skin tone
  • Minimized acne scarring

Contrary to popular belief, dermaplaning will not cause your hair to grow back darker or thicker. In fact, your hair will grow back at the same speed and thickness as normal.

Are there any side effects to dermaplaning?

Dermaplane treatments are quick, safe, and non-invasive. After your treatment, you may experience slight redness or dryness around the targeted treatment area. However, these side effects typically resolve within 15 minutes.

How long does dermaplaning last?

The results of dermaplaning aren’t permanent. The treatment can clear away up to three weeks’ worth of dead skin cells, and after three weeks to a month, your results will begin to fade. At this point, you’ll need to schedule another appointment. We can work with you to craft a treatment schedule that sees you preserving your results for as long as possible in a way that integrates nicely with your personal schedule.

What can I expect from my dermaplaning results?

Dermaplaning will immediately provide you with smoother, slightly brighter-looking skin without any peach fuzz (until it naturally grows back).

Will dermaplane treatments cause me to break out?

Not at all! In fact, dermaplaning will actually create the opposite effect. When dead skin build up, they can clog your pores and hair follicles, causing unfortunate acne breakouts. Dermaplaning provides a gentle exfoliation to reduce future breakouts and to improve the appearance of your skin.
